3 Car pile up

So we were in an accident while we were on our fabulous vacation. It was very scary and I am so grateful we are OK. We could really see the hand of our Heavenly Father in protecting us...it could have been much worse.

We were driving down the Interstate on the way home from Phoenix and all was going great. We were having a great time singing along with London's tunes. Up ahead we noticed flashing lights on each side of the two lane divided interstate. We and everyone else ahead pulled over to the one lane. We slowed our speed down to pass and up ahead of us a policeman in his brown uniform, no reflective vest, ran across in front of us across both lanes. There were 3 policeman in total on the side of the road.

The other policeman started to step out right in front of us or so it seemed so Sean slowed right down to almost a stop to avoid hitting him. That is when we got our first hit. A truck behind us wasn't paying attention and hit us on the left back corner. This was along the guard rail as well that went right down. We were bumped ahead towards the guard rail. It seemed like forever in between the first hit and the second hit. We were then hit very hard by the same truck who had now been piled into by a car that went right underneath and propelled them forward into the right side, now in between us and the guard rail. If you look at the pictures you can see where the truck rode up on our back right and then continued up the side hitting us, then the guardrail several times, all up the side, finally breaking free and hitting the front of our car and skidded to a stop several hundred feet ahead of us.

We had taken our head rests off that morning as they hit our necks just wrong...they bothered us. We spend all day travelling without them joking how our neck would break off if we were in an accident. Not even 2 minutes before the accident I had a feeling we needed to put them on. London had just clipped them back on to the correct position and we were hit. I know that the spirit told me to put them back on so that we could avoid more serious injury. I know that our prayers were answered that day as we prayed for safety in our travels that morning in Family prayer. I am so grateful for prayers and for my family.

This doesn't look that scary but it was. I wish I could have taken pictures of the other vehicles. The Truck and the car that hit it were completely totalled. We had angels looking out for us that day. We should have been hurt and had more damage.

This is the first hit not bad...then the other hits above.

Here was the gieco lizard in our back yard. Should have got Gieco! We used our own personal insurance from home. I won't do that again. I know it saves money but it is a risk in the US. We are still worried that they are going to try to sue us for damages. I know that our insurance company said that they both have lawyers. It would be way nicer not to deal with the pain that it is...just so you know, get the expensive insurance..no hassles.

Our replacement car. We never did like this one. The roof was too low..we were spoiled with our Kia. We loved that car and the sporty red!

Wow, what a blessing! I am so grateful for Heavenly Father and his love of each of us.

A lot of people in the states lawyer up, it's a way for them to make money. The insurance company is the first that would have to pay out. Did any of the cops see it happen? They could be your witness.

The VW probably didn't work for you cause you are all too tall! I would probably fit just right. But I did like the red Sportiness of the kia!

I am grateful you blog. It has helped me to get to know you and your family better! Keep it up. Grateful you are in our ward.

Awww... i wanted to see the minute after mayhem pics! Oh well. ;) So glad you listened to the whisperings. What were you even thinking taking the headrests off in the first place?? Crazy people!

Maybe your next new car will be a KIA - looks like it came out mostly fine after lots of potential damage. Jose loves the KIA suv's/crossovers too.

I'm surprised that the kia wasn't totaled and you weren't hurt...SMALL car to get in an accident. However we all know you had someone on your side. Glad you are all okay and home safe! Hope the insurance part goes ok for you.
