Defying gravity!

We had the opportunity to go to Wicked in Edmonton!  It was the best show I have ever seen.  I wanted to go and see it so we went to Edmonton for the week.  It ended up costing us quite a bit of money to go.  Hotels alone for the week were well over $1000.00.  So I decided that we couldn't afford to go.  For the 4 of us it would have been $500.00!  Yikes, hey?  Now that we have a bigger family I am really noticing how much more everything costs.

Well, as the week wore on I couldn't stand it, so Friday I said, let's go to the theatre and see, maybe they have cheaper tickets.  So off we went.  The tickets were the same price but while we were there a lady told us about a lottery they had going on.  You could come early for the show (6:00) and put your names in for a draw and get front row seats for only $25 if your name was drawn.  So off we went and put our names in.  I thought for sure we would win, but sadly we didn't.  There were only about 50 people at the draw and 10 names were drawn 2 seats each.  So I was in a dilemma do we spend the money?  Then the lady announced,  For this evening anyone that participated in the lottery can now buy any seat for $40.  Yipppeeeeee!!!!  I was first in line and got us seats together.
It was so good!  The music was incredible and the sets amazing!  It was funny and inspiring.  Sean didn't really want to go.  He ended up loving it!  I wish I would have gone at the beginning of the week and found out about the lottery. We may have gone twice!  So fun

We stayed in several different hotels in Edmonton.  First at the Hampton, then off to WEM hotel for two nights, then onto Whyte Ave at the Varscona hotel for 2 nights and finally we stayed in the hotel MacDonald!  That is a dream come true for me. I always wanted to stay there.  It was beautiful and old.  The guys are standing in front of it!
 The front Lobby
We saw this phone booth downtown so had to stop in the morning before we left for pictures!  I want one for my yard....anyone have one for sale?

While we were in Edmonton it was Sean's birthday.  It is always lame as we are on holidays.  We decorated the room and sang him happy birthday.  We went to the water park for his birthday and I booked a massage in the mall for him.  The gifts he wanted were all sold out so I just gave him money.  He is now a proud owner of a helmet cam.
My family loves pie so that is their birthday cake!  Wendy, her grandsons and James came for a visit that day so they got pie too!  Sean had a whole lemon meringue pie to himself.  Wendy thought I was joking when I gave it to him.  It did take him to days to eat it!
This is Howard.  He was limping around for days and we finally looked and the band I put on their legs to identify them was cutting in.  So we took it off and we were putting medicine on.  Poor guy, we had to carry him back and forth from the pond.  My ducks are so soft!  Unfortunately one night he went missing....must have been lunch for the fox!
My brother Darren came for a visit!  We have spent some good times on the beautiful deck Sean built us this year!  It gets such a nice breeze and the gazebo shades us, even on hot days.
Isn't this the cutest little picture!  I love our Brigham.....Smile!

How lucky for you to stay at the Hotel McDonald! You guys have such a great time on holidays.

I love that you let him have a pie all to himself. That is such a sweet gift!

I loved Wicked and so did Lane. Lane was the one listening to the music for days afterwards. :) Could London be any cuter by the way? Rhetorical. I love your dress you wore to wicked. Lane is going to be ecstatic when he finds out that Sean has a GoPro. Lane is border line obsessed. He has created a bunch of homemade mounts and uses it at work, when we went canoeing this summer, then he makes more mounts. He and Sean will have a good time with that! I showed Lane your quading post and he was thrilled. 'Oooh, quads!'
